T I A N J I N  -  Panorama Photos

Tianjin has some fairly nice views, even though most of the city is not nearly as scenic as these photos might lead you to think! Most of it is in fact dusty and industrial. The photos were taken in September 2002. This time, you need to click on each photo to get the enlarged version! (view map of Tianjin province/ Tianjin city)

Ligong university, this is where I learned Chinese for one year!

Hi, this is where James and I live: DiBeiLi - beautiful appartment blocks 80s style

View on Wujiayoa Dajie, towards the city center. The sepia tone of the photo of course renders this a rather flattering shot of the city.

View on one of the main intersections, with the TV tower in the background, and the parks leading towards Nankai university on the right.

The lake surrounding Tianjin's TV tower, a popular entertainment area

Another view on the lake surrounding Tianjin's TV tower, taken on an exceptionally clear, sunny day

The People's Park, the photos exhibiting a mix of traditional European and modern Chinese architecture.

Indeed, there are beautiful green spots in this vast, gray and largely industrial city, one just has to find them (People's Park). In those places, the Chinese practice Tai Chi, dancing and singing, in their wonderfully natural and uninhitibited way of going about life.

Well, this is an artificial 360° view of DiBeiLi, the appartment complex where James and I live. It was created by duplicating a 180° wide-angle shot and pasting the two photos together, while eliminating the center window frame between the two photos to create a mirror-like effect. Then, I took sea water from a German Eastern Sea photo and put it in the middle. The Chinese Versailles...:)
